This role ensures culinary excellence, supports daily kitchen operations, and upholds all safety and sanitation standards. The Cook I also plays a leadership role - stepping in as kitchen lead when Sous Chefs are not present - modeling professionalism, guiding teammates, and contributing to a culture of hospitality and care. What You'll Do Food Preparation & Quality Prepare meals following recipes and presentation standards. Regulate ovens, grills, and other equipment to proper temperatures. Portion, garnish, and present dishes consistently. Monitor food quality and maintain accurate food logs. Kitchen Operations Organize and set up your assigned station daily. Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) standards for inventory. Communicate menu changes, specials, or 86'ed items to staff. Assist in efficient service flow during peak times. Leadership & Teamwork Support training, scheduling, and mentoring of team members. Serve as kitchen lead when Sous Chefs are not present, including opening/closing duties. Share professional feedback with management and peers. Foster teamwork and positive relationships across departments. Safety & Sanitation Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work environment. Comply with all food safety, hygiene, and uniform standards. Complete required safety training and certifications. What We're Looking For Availability for 8-10 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to stand, walk, or work in hot/cold environments for extended periods. Strong teamwork and communication skills; able to lead when needed. High standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene. Familiarity with farm-to-table cooking and awareness of current culinary trends. Commitment to 1440's mission and values.
