Demonstrates efficiency and consistency when assigned additional departmental duties. Adheres to food handling and storage procedures meeting inspection regulations. Remains updated on current information through participation in department/hospital performance improvement initiatives, in-services and meetings, as evidenced by attendance records. Demonstrates the ability to anticipate and recognize urgent situations, or potential problems, while showing an awareness of and response to staffing needs. Takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome, as evidence by patient satisfaction and wait times. Monitors and records temperature of food as required to meet established standards. Recognizes and corrects unsafe conditions in work area and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Demonstrates cost conscious attitude through following standardized recipes, proper portion control, adjusting recipes production to quantities needed, minimizing waste, and communicating stock needs in a timely manner to ensure adequate amount of stock is on hand at all times. Adheres to sanitation guidelines in proper use of procedures and specialized equipment ensuring by proper disposal of waste, accurate mixing of chemicals, and storage of chemicals following outlined instructions in sanitation of all equipment. Follows established sanitation maintenance procedures to meet high standards through proper hygiene according to department policy, including hair control and hand washing. Prepares a variety of foods meeting department and hospital procedures and regulations according to need and supervisor or lead cook's instructions to ensure cost control, consistency, and patient/customer safety. Monitors food to ensure compliance with hospital/department regulations as evidenced by temperature monitoring and customer satisfaction. Demonstrates accurate and efficient assembly, practice of proper operation and cleaning of equipment, and of proper operator maintenance of equipment.
