Job Summary/General Purpose of Job
  • Product management at the American Bar Association is focused on the development, launch, and continuous improvement of our products and offerings. The Product Group works closely with staff and member leaders across the business to balance customer needs, business strategy, and development capacity to ensure we maximize customer value and loyalty via our products.
  • The Associate Product Manager, Early Career Membership leads product strategy for the ABA's Early Career Membership pipeline. They develop and demonstrate expertise in the industry, help scope new features and functionality to serve customer needs, manage the product roadmap, and work across the organization to execute, iterate, and communicate about their product area. Additionally, supports the ABA Law Student Representative program, governance efforts for the Law Student and Young Lawyer Divisions, and contributes to other law school outreach communications strategy.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)
  • Assists with the development of a product roadmaps that align business and customer goals.
  • Measures and analyzes product performance using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Summarizes results of analytics, drawing observations and developing recommendations for Product leadership to consider.
  • Regularly explores market via competitive research, market research, and customer interviews to explore new opportunities and ideas related to the ABA's products.
  • Serves as an internal champion for the assigned product(s) assisting in the development of educational and instructive materials to inform stakeholders and encourage product growth.
  • Partners with marketing staff position products, highlight key benefits, target personas, and go-to-market strategies according to established product roadmap(s).
  • The Associate Product Manager develops positive working relationships across the ABA's Product and Marketing groups to encourage a collaborative work environment.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

Required Education, Qualifications, Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Min. 2 years' experience in product strategy/management.
  • Experience in product/feature development from concept through launch.
  • Experience working on complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Proven ability with quantitative and business analysis.

Preferred Education, Qualifications, Experience
  • Background in a relevant industry
  • Experience working with member/volunteer boards in a non-profit or not-for-profit setting.

  • Typical office work environment.

Extent of Travel Required in the Job
  • As a normal course of business, this job will typically require travel of less than 15% of the time.
