Cook I Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cook I to join our culinary team. The Cook I plays an essential role in preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes for daily meal periods and special events. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong culinary skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high food quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Prepare, season, and cook food items according to standardized recipes and menu specifications. Ensure all meals are prepared in compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines. Maintain proper portion control and presentation standards for each dish. Assist in daily kitchen operations, including setup, cleaning, and equipment maintenance. Support menu planning and recipe development to enhance meal variety and nutrition. Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during meal periods. Participate in catering and special event food preparation as needed. Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues promptly. Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation areas, adhering to all health regulations. Follow supervisors' directions and work collaboratively with team members to meet service goals. Requirements Proven experience in a professional kitchen or food service environment. Basic understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations. Knowledge of food safety practices, including proper storage and temperature control. Ability to work in a fast-paced setting while maintaining quality and attention to detail. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or institutional food service setting. Familiarity with dietary guidelines and special meal preparation.
